about me
Arthur finds inspiration in open roads through vast landscapes, beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see, and anywhere else adventure lures him to.

Background
Arthur was born in 1972 in Bloemfontein, raised in Swellendam and when he was 7 years old moved to Cape Town with his mother and sister where he lived until recently. He moved to Struisbaai in 2021 with his wife and daughter.
He attained his matric at Cape Technical College, and studied Graphic Design at Cape Technicon in 1994 after which he worked in the advertising industry for over 20 years.
At the same time he joined the Round Table and was heavily involved in charitable work. In the last 8 years, Arthur traded his advertising career in and bought a food truck to follow his passion for food.
Arthur had his first exhibition at the Winchester Hotel in November 2019 where he sold most of his work. Subsequent exhibitions that were scheduled for 2020 were cancelled due to lock downs. In that time he spent the year trying to rescue his catering business until moving to Struisbaai in March 2021 which inspired him to continue painting once more.
Although he had formal training as a graphic designer and had completed thousands of illustrations (ink, gauche, water colour, copic marker mediums) he has no formal fine art training.
While painting, arthur is illustrating childrens educational books, writing and illustrating his own collection of hilarious poems he had written for his daughter, Valentina, and is writing a novel called "I exist".
Arthur works mainly in Acrylic on canvas, capturing the beauty of local seascapes and landscapes. He can switch from loose to meticulous depending on his mood at the time. Although he enjoys working in ink, pencil and charcoal as well, he has concentrated on painting as his primary medium.
