Agreement for submitting to ArtySan exhibition
1. The Submission Phase (Payable, Jury Process)
- Submission Fees: A total of 4 (four) artworks may be submitted via online form for a total non-refundable fee of R200 (ZAR). This fee will be used toward administrative costs, marketing, exhibition expenses and / or courier fees to return artworks that are unsold.
- Jury Selection Process: Submitted work is juried by Arthur Brigg (ArtySan Gallery owner). Evaluation is based on originality, technical execution and interpretation of the exhibition theme. Selected artists will be notified one week after the submission deadline of October 20th 2026.
- Selected work: Artists who are selected must, at their own cost, deliver artwork to ArtySan Gallery no later than November 27th 2026. Artists must supply a printed Certificate of Authenticity with each art work.
- Return of Unsold Work: Selected artists whose work has not sold for the duration of the exhibition up until February 26th 2027 shall be couriered back to the artist within 2 (two) weeks after this date at the galleries expense.
2. The Exhibition Phase (If Accepted)
- Duration & Space: Selected artists are invited to attend the opening exhibition on Saturday, December 12th but are not obligated to attend – although strongly recommended. Selected artists work will be on display from 12th December 2026 until February 26th 2027. Each artist is allocated enough space for their work, this will include a printed biography, and a price tag containing the sales price of the art, the title and artists name, with a short descriptive paragraph.
- Selected artists will also be promoted online, and their work available for online purchase for the duration of the display.
- Insurance & Liability: ArtySan Gallery will be liable for insurance against damage, theft or disaster for the duration of the exhibition except in any case where insurance does not cover, or refuses to cover any such damages.
- Shipping / Courier & Transportation: The cost, packing, and risk of shipping the art work to the gallery is borne by the artist whereas returning unsold art work to the artist shall be borne by ArtySan Gallery. Should sold art work require delivery to a customer who has bought the art work such shipping or courier fees shall be borne by the Buyer.
3. Sales & Commissions (If the Artwork Sells)
- Retail Price: The minimum sale price for each artwork should be agreed upon in writing and cannot be changed without consent. This amount is stipulated by the artist in their application form, and the agreed percentage commission as stipulated by ArtySan Gallery.
- Commission Split: The gallery shall mark up accepted art work by 25% over (on top of) the value stipulated by the artist in their submission form. These amounts can be amended by mutual consent if required, no later than one week before the opening exhibition.
- The artist retains 75% of the sale after bank charges (approx 2.5% local to 3.5% foreign card fees). In other words, once we receive payment from YOCO, the amount paid to the gallery will then have 25% deducted, the remaining 75% is paid to the artist. For example on a R10 000 sale, YOCO pays out R9750 (2.5% fee) minus the gallery 25% means you are paid R7312.50 and the gallery retains R2437,50.
- Online purchase costs that require shipping will be billed to the buyer.
- Payment Terms: Artists will be paid within 7 (seven) days for any work sold, with the exception of delays from banks.
4. Rights and Reproduction
- Copyright: The artist always retains the copyright to their work.
- Promotional Use: By submitting your artwork for exhibition to ArtySan Gallery the artist gives permission to use images of submitted artwork specifically for exhibition promotion, marketing, or press releases, without needing separate consent. No images of the artwork may be used for financial gain or printed reproduction beyond the exhibition parameters agreed upon.
