ArtySan Gallery

ArtySan Gallery, nestled along the iconic Route 62 in the small, creative town of Barrydale, South Africa, offers a refreshing and authentic creative stop for travelers exploring one of South Africa’s most beautifully scenic routes.
The gallery celebrates local fine art that reflects both the spirit of the Karoo, the oceans nearby, the people, wildlife and the individuality of the artists behind each piece. ArtySan is a space where creativity feels personal, tactile, and deeply rooted in place. Visitors are invited not just to browse, but to connect with the stories, techniques, and inspiration that bring each artwork to life.

More than just a gallery, ArtySan is a working studio where you can see work created in real-time. You’ll hear old rock classics like Pink Floyd, raw blues and Irish folk music as you meander through a relaxed, down-to-earth space.
Whether you’re a dedicated collector or a curious traveler passing through, the gallery offers something memorable: a chance to take home a memory of your adventures. Its warm, rustic atmosphere and carefully selected works make it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking art that is meaningful, authentic and distinctly South African.
You’ll find ArtySan Gallery at Shop 6 on Route62 to the left of Camel Horse Restaurant, and across the road from Jaques Bakery. Closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between April and August, otherwise open from 10am to 3pm seven days a week.
